‘To learn a language is to have one more window from which to look at the world’ Chinese proverb
Our children begin their introduction to modern foreign languages in Key Stage 2. They learn the basics of French with an emphasis on reading, speaking and culture. They learn vocabulary to help describe the world around them - school, home, the weather, colours, pets and begin to make simple conversations including introducing themselves with greetings and simple exchanges.
They also learn about France - major cities, some geographical areas, famous landmarks and other places in the world that speak French as a major language.
